Autotech Talks: Industry experts share advice & views on the impact of COVID-19

At the start of the Covid 19 lockdown, Autotech Recruit’s CEO Gavin White collaborated with automotive industry experts, to launch a series of ‘Autotech Talks’ interviews.

With a comprehensive line-up of guests adding their insight and take on the current issues and challenges facing the industry, the objective of the interviews is to inspire debate on what the post-coronavirus future might hold for the motor trade, and promote collaboration within the sector.

Topics include the supply of essential parts, the impact on dealer groups and independent garages, apprentices, training, and provides a wider understanding of the impact across the industry in Europe as a whole.

Andy Savva, The Garage Inspector, discusses the effect the lockdown period is having on the independent garage sector, sharing tactics to help garages claim the grants they are entitled to, with tips for garage bosses on leadership and sustaining contact with their biggest asset – staff.

Quentin Le Hetet, General Manager of GiPA UK and a respected figure in the automotive aftermarket intelligence field, reports on some vital data on how the industry is faring. Providing an insight on the country to country variances, Quentin considers the short, and long-term impact on the automotive aftermarket.

Anthony McAteer, Euro Car Parts, discusses the potential repercussions on car supplies as a consequence of China, and other European countries, going into lockdown, while offering tips on how to adapt to the new ‘normal’ and the potential actions of customers.

Ben Stockton, MD of Our Virtual Academy, discusses the spike in online training during the lockdown period.

Jack Allman, CEO of Auto Service Finance, discusses the digital revolution which could alter the landscape of the automotive aftermarket and how FinTech will dilute the divide between independent garages and dealer groups and filter through the entire aftermarket as the industry looks for alternative solutions to limit customer contact.
