“As employers, colleagues and friends, we need to watch out for each other; know what to look out for and what to do if we come across mental health issues.”
CAPS ON FOR A GOOD CAUSE…
We’ve all had our low days but one four of us will experience more serious mental health issues in any given year. As employers, colleagues and friends, we need to watch out for each other; know what to look for and what to do if we come across it.
In recognition of this, presenter of TV Show Wheeler Dealers, Mike Brewer has joined forces with automotive industry charity BEN as a celebrity ambassador. He’d like you to join him in having a bit of workshop fun, while raising much needed funds to support motor industry colleagues through the toughest of times, to come out safely on the other side.
BEN is there to support anyone in, or connected with, the motor industry. That includes me and you. BEN’s Hats on 4 Mental Health Day, on 13th October 2017, is hoped to top last year’s £13,000 donations total. If every reader supports this initiative, so many more colleagues and friends could be helped.
The day is part of Ben’s wider mental health campaign during October to December and spotlights how mental health can affect anyone, at any time. The campaign is particularly relevant as recent research shows two thirds of British adults say they have experienced mental ill-health at some point in their lives, according to the Mental Health Foundation. In an industry which has a workforce of over 800,000 people, that’s over 500,000 people potentially affected by mental health challenges!
Says Mike, “We’re calling upon you to get involved in Hats on 4 Mental Health Day because we need your support to raise awareness about such a worthy cause. Let’s keep talking about mental health to help prevent people from suffering in silence. So what are you waiting for? Sign up now and get involved. Raise your hats, raise awareness and raise some funds for Ben!”
