Maria Costello – who is sponsored by NGK – narrowly missed out on another podium finish as she produced another great effort at the Isle of Man Classic TT Festival of Motorcycling.
The Northamptonshire racer rode to an impressive fourth place in the Senior Classic TT on the Beugger Racing Paton 500 in a race that was reduced to three laps following the tragic death of Kiwi racer Chris Swallow.
She was delighted with her performance in a race won by racing legend John McGuinness, who claimed his third Classic TT win, and Italian International Northwest 200 winner Stefan Bonetti who came second, with Yorkshire rider Jamie Coward finishing in third.
NGK Spark Plugs (UK) Ltd Marketing Manager Mark Hallam said: “Maria produced a fantastic performance and narrowly missed making the podium. Sadly, the risks taken by Maria and her fellow racers were once again highlighted by the tragic death of Chris Swallow.”
Costello also rode in the Junior Classic TT on a 350cc CSC Racing Drixton Honda for Steve Caffyn and was enjoying her first racing laps on the bike when a mechanical issue forced her to retire at the top of Barregarrow on lap three.
She will next be competing on two wheels at the Goodwood Revival, which takes place between 13th and 15 September, for BMW Group Classic in September.
