Autotech Training launches ADAS training course

Autotech Training is now offering IMI accredited ADAS training for the automotive industry, following the release of the Insurance Industry Requirements (IIR) directive for the safe repair of advanced driver assistance system (ADAS) equipped vehicles earlier this year.

There are currently over 4.5 million ADAS enabled vehicles on UK roads, and this figure is expected to rise exponentially as car manufacturers increasingly fit the latest driver assistance technology to new models.

The sensor calibration requirements on ADAS features vary from vehicle to vehicle, and the IIR directive has been set to ensure that vehicle manufacturers’ technical specifications are met to reinstate ADAS features safely, without compromising performance.

As the training division of the Autotech Group, Autotech Training is delivering one day, IMI accredited Advanced Driver Assistance Systems Training at its training suite in Milton Keynes.

Training is imperative to ensure that vehicle technicians can safely repair vehicles, without compromising insurance. However, a recent survey revealed that 29% of independent garages sometimes turn away work because they don’t have the skills to service modern vehicles. With technology such as ADAS increasingly filtering through the aftermarket for repairs, it is vital that garage owners make training a priority.

After completing Autotech Training’s IMI accredited course, technicians will have the ability to identify and correctly interpret information relating to a specific vehicle and its ADAS features to determine which method of calibration is required.

“As the number of ADAS enabled vehicles join the UK roads, it is vital that the automotive aftermarket is able to offer a safe repair service,” comments Mandla Ndhlovu, Training Delivery Director for Autotech Training.

“While the IIR provides the insurance supply chain with clear guidance, automotive employers need to ensure that their vehicle technicians are trained to not only comply, but to instill confidence within their customers.”

Introducing the CSC-Tool Digital from Hella Gutmann – the ultimate ADAS calibration solution

The CSC-Tool Digital is the latest ADAS calibration solution to join the class-leading line-up from ADAS experts, Hella Gutmann. Using the latest technology for even greater flexibility and ease of use, the CSC-Tool Digital is the ultimate camera and radar calibration solution.

Designed to save time and space
Using a state-of-the-art ultra-short throw projector, the CSC-Tool Digital displays the required calibration target image in high resolution on a 200cm screen with none of the frequency flicker, screen reflection or manipulation of the OE target size associated with LCD displays.
Target images can be downloaded and interchanged at the touch of a button, greatly reducing set-up time in comparison to conventional systems.

Patented green line laser technology also makes it quicker and easier to ensure absolute alignment of the vehicle’s camera or radar sensor using its rear axle (which determines the true thrust angle of a vehicle).

In addition to saving valuable workshop time, with no need to store physical target panels the CSC-Tool Digital saves workshop space too.

Connectivity equals flexibility
With flexible licensing options, frequently used target images can be purchased via the Apple Store, while target images for less common vehicle models can be rented when required and downloaded in seconds.

Training videos from the HELLA Academy can also be streamed to the CSC-Tool Digital, so you and your team can stay up to date with the latest vehicle repair solutions from HELLA.
