Wipers: Completely new style of connection

By autotech-nath on October 11, 2017

TRICO has extended its exact fit range with four blade lengths, which all feature a brand new 19mm push button FZ connection system.

The new FZ connection is unique to applications such as the Lexus NX 2014+, Toyota Mirai 2015+, Toyota Prius 2016+ and Land Rover Discovery/Range Rover/Range Rover Sport 2017 onwards.

TRICO was the first to launch a 300mm length hybrid blade to the aftermarket, fitting the passenger side of the Nissan Note Mk 2 (2013+). It is designed to give customers the original hybrid styling but with improved performance over the OE blades, by using the TRICO beam blade substructure rather than a conventional blade substructure.

Six new Exact Fit rear wiper blades also join the range, designed to fit unique rear integral and beam wiper arms. The new references cover more than 20 late model vehicles.

The Exact Fit programme is continually updated to offer coverage of the latest vehicle applications, allowing garages to service 99% of all vehicle applications directly from stock.

Product and Brand Manager, Sam Robinson, says: “We expect this connection system to be rolled out across more vehicle models in the coming months.”

If you’re going to do something, do it properly. Here’s some wiper replacement best practice…

When replacing wipers, remove the old ones and thoroughly clean the screen before fitting new ones. Pay attention to the top and bottom of the sweep areas where the dirt collects, or this will immediately contaminate new wipers.

If the vehicle is fitted with conventional blades, consider offering the customer an upgrade to modern beam blades using a retro- fit hook option, this gives them an upgrade in performance and styling.

Sometimes the new blades you are fitting may install with a different method to either the OE blade and/or the existing aftermarket blade you are replacing. Never force a blade into place, if it does not appear to fit then check the fitting instructions.

TRICO has fitting videos available on YouTube for all ranges to assist with this – scan the QR code on the packaging to access them or type in TRICO Europe on YouTube.
